Ferrer Bobet is one of the most ambitious new ventures in Priorat. It was set up in 2002 by two old friends, Sergi Ferrer-Salat and Raul Bobet, who love wine and winemaking and who are on a quest to produce the perfect wine. They have come together in a strategic alliance in order to draw out the full mineral expression from the Piorat’s Pizarra slate slopes.  The winery is located between the towns of Falset and Porrer, majestically planted like the prow of a ship on the waves of vineyards, creating a striking balance between Priorat’s natural landscape and the winery’s modern architecture.

Appearance

Intense cherry hue with purple tints.

Nose

Extremely intense and very clean, with pronounced aromas of ripe red and black fruit, along with mineral and liquorice notes against a very nice lactic backdrop.

Palate

A meaty wine which is pleasant, easy and fresh over the palate. Long lingering finish, releasing chocolate aromas with some balsamic and mineral touches.

Comment

This wine is made exclusively from grapes grown on Pizarra slate slopes, from centenarian Carignan vines, especially selected in the area, since their vineyards are still young.  It is very carefully crafted, seeking to draw out the mineral essence of the Priorat land. This wine strives for elegance, finesse and maturity rather than power and structure, which has resulted in it possessing an excellent silky sensation with a very pleasant, fruity mouthfeel and a complex, intense aromatic range on the nose.

Recommended with a grilled Iberian pork with melted soft goat’s cheese.
