The well known acting couple, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, bought the magnificent Château Miraval with its vineyards in 2008.  The château sits tucked away in its own valley in the ancient village of Correns, France’s “first organic village”. This 500 hectare property, located in the heart of Provence, covers 150 hectares of vineyards, ancient forests and olive groves, and has an abundant supply of water.  It is an enchanting oasis of magnificent flora and fauna, combined with the wonderful Provençal climate and the Mediterranean quality of life.

In 2012, the “Brangelina” couple released their first wine, “made in France”, Château Miraval Rosé 2012.  But this wine is not just the typical caprice of the rich and famous. It has all the quality credentials of a collaboration with the Perrin family, of Château de Beaucastel.

Appearance

Lovely pale pink hue. Very bright.

Nose

Very refined with intense aromas of white flowers, stone fruit, wild strawberries and anise.  Subtle mineral backdrop.

Palate

Very soft and delicious, with an incredibly smooth texture and a fresh cherry and raspberry flavour.  A real treat!

Château Miraval Rosé 2013 is made from Cinsault, Grenache, Syrah and Rolle (Vermentino). The Syrah is partially macerated on the skins and its must is obtained by the bleeding method.  The wine’s packaging is elegant with a clear bottle, in a shape similar to that used by Ruinart for its Blanc de Blancs.  Although it has not been around for long, it has already picked up several awards. It is no surprise that Wine Spectator placed it number 84 among the 100 best wines in the world and number one in its category.

This is a very fine wine which, combined with the glamorous image that these international mega-stars inevitably bring, make it a “must” on any good restaurant table.

Recommended with nigiri sushi of Rosas prawns.
